Hegseth yan for him X account say:
"Yesterday, I meet Nigeria National Security Adviser and him team to discuss di terrible violence wey dey happen against Christians for their country. Under @POTUS leadership, DOW dey work well well with Nigeria to end di persecution of Christians by jihadist terrorists."
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell yan say Hegseth urge Nigeria make dem take urgent and lasting action to stop di violence against Christians, and say Washington dey find closer cooperation with Abuja to stop and weaken terrorists wey fit threaten USA.
Dis meeting happen after US President Donald Trump don yan say Christianity dey face serious danger for Nigeria. Trump warn say if Federal Government no stop di killings, USA fit send military forces go Nigeria.
US Congressman Riley Moore yan say im meet Nigerian delegation led by Ribadu for Washington, DC, to discuss di growing persecution of Christians and increasing terrorist activities. Him describe di talks as “frank, honest, and productive,” wey focus on counterterrorism, security support, and protection of vulnerable communities.
The Nigerian delegation include top government and security officials like:
- Bianca Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
- Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector General of Police
- Chief Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, Attorney General of the Federation
