The Nafiu Bala-led side of the African Democratic Congress don yan say former Vice President Atiku Abubakar registration for Adamawa no get recognition, dey insist say he no still officially member of the party.
Dis clarification show just hours after Atiku collect him ADC membership card publicly for Jada 1 Ward, Adamawa State.
For statement wey ADC Director of Media and Public Affairs, Christopher Okechukwu, issue for Abuja, dem talk say the registration wey happen for Adamawa no follow proper party procedures and e no get authority.
Okechukwu talk say,
This registration na people wey National Headquarters no recognise do am, so e no get authority to register new members.
We don dey always advise Mr Abubakar make e complete him registration with the correct and authorised party executives for him area, but he never do am.”
The faction warn say Atiku action fit be part of “bigger plan to use ADC while e dey wait to reconcile with Peoples Democratic Party,” dem yan say dem don dey notice similar pattern before.
Okechukwu appeal make Atiku follow proper process, talk say ADC “no be vehicle for personal ambition, na movement wey dey fight for democratic renewal,” and assure say once Atiku register correctly for the authorised ward structure, e go get full membership rights.
Dis rebuttal show as ADC dey enter wahala with leadership fight, as the legitimacy of David Mark as national leader dey challenge for Federal High Court. The party yan say dis matter must settle before dem fit integrate coalition partners, including Atiku camp.
Atiku comot from Peoples Democratic Party for July after e yan say PDP don forget him principles, and on Monday e talk say “the real opposition don start” as e collect him ADC card amid cheers for Adamawa.
E talk, “Now I don pick up my ADC membership card. Now the real opposition don start. We go chase APC comot government.”
Atiku registration get support from Adamawa ADC chairman Shehu Yohanna and ADC Registration and Mobilisation Committee. Some big politicians like former Governor Bindow Jibrilla and Senator Aishatu Binani still dey the event, wey mark important political move as 2027 dey approach.
Dis move by Atiku dey join bigger opposition coalition wey include Labour Party’s Peter Obi, ex-Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi, Kaduna Governor Nasir el-Rufai, ex-SGFG Babachir Lawal, and others, wey don agree to use ADC as united platform against APC.
But as ADC faction dey push back strong, Atiku membership matter fit now turn new wahala inside opposition camp.
