Some unknown gunmen attack St. Andrews Anglican Church, Isiokwe in Lilu community, Ihiala LGA of Anambra State, early Sunday morning. Two people die for the incident, including the wife of the church priest. The attackers also burn vehicles, the priest’s house and part of the church building.
Information wey reach us from relevant sources show say the whole church compound scatter after the attack as burn cars, damaged buildings and scattered properties full everywhere.
According to residents wey witness the incident, the gunmen enter the church area as people dey prepare for Sunday service. Dem begin shoot, cause serious panic and set many things on fire. The attack injure several people and destroy both the priest’s house and some church vehicles.
The Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirm the attack. He talk say the Commissioner of Police don order stronger security presence and start intelligence-led operations to track down the criminals. He describe the attack as a serious assault on the community and promise say police go pursue the perpetrators until dem face the law.
The police also urge residents to stay calm and assist security teams with useful information. Lilu community, wey dey between Anambra and Imo states, don face repeated gunmen attacks for several months.
