Dangut yan dis one because parents, schools, and other people wey dey education sector don dey worry about how the Computer-Based WASSCE go take work for May/June 2026.
E no be new say House of Representatives don ask Federal Ministry of Education and WAEC to pause the Computer-Based Test policy for 2026 exam. Dem even talk make Ministry work with states to put money for computer teachers, build computer halls wey get internet and standby generators for secondary schools. Dem yan make private schools sef get correct facilities before 2030.
Dangut yan say WAEC don start to prepare to follow Government order wey talk say all public exams must dey digital from 2026. WAEC don dey test digital exam platforms and check if schools dey ready for this change.
E talk say WAEC don check all secondary schools for country, see if dem get correct ICT facilities, location, and infrastructure to handle digital exams. From top this, dem create framework wey divide schools into three groups to know how candidates go take exam comfortably.
Dangut yan: “We don make sure say no candidate go suffer for CB-WASSCE 2026. Any candidate no go need waka pass two kilometre to write exam. Na our commitment to fairness and access be this.”
For curriculum matter, Dangut clear say government na im dey approve curriculum, WAEC dey implement wetin government don approve.
For 2026, five main fields go dey: Core, Science, Humanities, Business, and Trade Subjects. But Citizenship and Heritage Studies plus Digital Technologies go still dey compulsory core subjects, dem no go examine dem until 2028.
So for 2026 and 2027, candidates go write only three core subjects: English Language, General Mathematics, plus one Trade Subject. Dem go choose five or six electives, so total subjects go dey eight or nine.
WAEC don reduce Trade Subjects from 26 to six, some subjects don get new names but still get same curriculum. One new Trade Subject, Horticulture and Crop Production, come from Agricultural Science with new syllabus.
Dangut yan say WAEC no dey stop Science students from choosing Economics or any elective across fields.
WAEC go extend time for Continuous Assessment Scores upload so schools fit adjust to new syllabus. E yan make sure say schools do minimum three assessments for new subjects to meet CASS requirement.
