The minister come add say open grazing no be acceptable again, and government dey treat am as serious offense. He beg herders make dem enter ranching system because e safe, e better, and e go even make their cattle grow stronger and heavier for market.
He explain say if the livestock sector dey properly managed, e fit turn to the second biggest source of money for Nigeria after oil and gas. Maiha talk say the ministry dey target $74 billion revenue within the next five years, and so far, dem don raise more than $14 billion from the livestock programmes wey don dey run
The Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaleptawa Farauta, wey declare the event open, talk say Adamawa get strong history and capacity for livestock business, so e make sense say na the state host the first National Council on Livestock Development.
The newly launched council get all the directors of livestock from the 36 states plus the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Their work na to plan, monitor and push policies wey go modernize and expand livestock production for Nigeria.
Government believe say if ranching begin work well, fight for farmland go reduce, herders go get better profit, and local communities go live in peace again.
